Rising from Brittlerock Gap, the road flattens out and winds up a gentle slope, long into the valley and towards Ridgeburg. The sharp canyon opens to terraced, rocky outcrops that are full of unstable gravel and dirt, compacted in narrow and irregular bits of pathway that haven’t seen a carriage in years.
Right below the steep wall of rock that is Cliffside, an old and decaying inn hosts patrol troops from Ridgeburg and the rare traveler. Walking up the road, one can hear the distant roar of the Whispercreek river low in the canyon, while the brisk air is moving just enough to rustle the few dead bushes scattered around the deserted landscape.
A long time ago a tunnel connected Martens with the region of Grimrise Hollow. The tunnel has been blown up by Disciples in an attempt to keep outsiders out of the valley. Nowadays, one has to venture through Brittlerock Gap in order to travel across regions.
